Transferring Your Website

Here's how to move your site with no downtime.

  1. Do not turn off your current hosting account until your new one with us is setup!
  2. Do not change your name servers yet!
  3. Set up your account with us. During checkout tell us you need a temporary URL for your site. This will allow you to access your new site with a different, temporary domain name while your old site is still up.
  4. Upload your website to your new account (using FTP, FrontPage, Dreamweaver, HomeSite, etc.)
  5. Your signup email will have a temporary URL to access your new site while your old one stays live.
  6. Thoroughly check out the new site using the temporary URL (images, pages, links, etc.)
  7. Go to your registrar and change your "name servers" to dns1.webmasterpro.com and dns2.webmasterpro.com.
  8. It will take up to three days for the Internet to "notice" the change. After the three day waiting period, confirm that your new site is accessible with your real domain name (URL). At this point you can turn off your old hosting account.
